Being an HKS/HBS joint degree ("Jointee") has allowed me unbridled access to world-renowned faculty whose experiences span the public and private sectors. One-off conversations with professors have literally led to entire career shifts for me. I was introduced to my first MBA internship through a case in my Joint Degree Seminar Class. I have had coffee chats with a former United States Governor, Fortune 500 CEOs, revered thought leaders, and international diplomats solely because of events on campus and in the classroom. I have been elected as Co-President of the Black Investment Club and as Section Senator for the HBS Student Association which has provided me access to Harvard leadership and insight to capital planning and university affairs. Just one of these individual experiences alone could be considered life-changing, and consequently I feel my life changing and perspective expanding every single day. [...]
I love the flexibility and optionality that the 2+2 deferred admissions program provided me at a very uncertain point in my life, as a graduating undergrad. Additionally, I knew that if I took the GMAT and applied while I was in the academic headspace, I would thank myself endlessly for having that option down the road. [...]

My mentor, Gary Trujillo, shared his experience at HBS and in the 2+2 program, and it was a perfect option for me. I wanted time to grow as a STEM leader and still have the opportunity to develop my business knowledge with this deferred enrollment program. [...]
I spent the first two years working in consulting in Greece and other countries in Europe. And I loved it! I was fortunate enough to work next to very inspiring individuals and be part of many project teams that were hard-working but at the same time fun and engaging, which ultimately offered me a solid understanding of business and made me a better person and leader. It was then time for me to serve in the Greek Navy, which is a mandatory requirement for all male individuals that must be fulfilled up until a certain age. [...]
It has always been important to me that I’m able to make a difference in the world. To have impact on any real scale, you need to be able to lead others. Several of the most inspiring leaders that I knew personally were HBS grads. They encouraged me to consider the 2+2 program. I was fairly certain that I would do an MBA at some point and 2+2 would give me more flexibility in my decision making before then. [...]
