An Interview with Associate Director, Phillip Andrews

Before I joined the Career & Professional Development (CPD) team, I spent two years as a case researcher working with faculty to develop and write business case studies for use in the HBS classroom and in business programs around the globe. My very first case, “The Fiat-Chrysler Alliance: Launching the Cinquecento in North America” remains my favorite. I’m a born and raised New Englander. I grew up in the suburbs of Boston and then headed to Yale for college. I worked in U.S. immigration law for many years before joining HBS so I provide basic immigration guidance to our international students who are planning long-term careers in the United States. [...]

I was lucky enough to have literally stumbled upon my HBS job after spending the prior part of my career working exclusively in finance roles. Before HBS, I worked in investment banking, asset management and had been the CFO of a private equity-backed company. I also acquired a portfolio of multi-family residential properties, which I continue to own today. When I read the job description of my current HBS role, my thought was simply, “that sounds like fun.” – nearly ten years later that remains the case! [...]
