Courses
Since 1927, Harvard Business School has been a pioneer in teaching business history.
The Business History Initiative continues this tradition and seeks to facilitate and promote course development in business history globally. We provide a detailed overview of HBS's own history courses and a guide to using the case method to teach history. We have also collected syllabi from a range of history courses taught worldwide on the subjects of business, finance, innovation, and capitalism.
Today around half of the 900 students in the second year of the Harvard MBA take one or more of the business history electives.
Resources, including statistical charis and an international directory of syllabi, for teaching history in business schools and other graduate institutions as well as in colleges.
