What We Do
The mission of the Tech Club is to educate the HBS community on the latest technology trends and essential industry skills. Each year, we provide robust recruiting opportunities and foster meaningful social and professional connections among our 450+ club members, the broader HBS community, and the extended Boston tech ecosystem.
How We Do It
Our club accomplishes our mission in two ways: by creating a community for students interested in tech at HBS and by helping those students land roles at leading tech companies and startups.
Our Annual Events Include:
- HBS Tech Conference: A student-driven forum celebrating the technological innovations shaping our world, which host entrepreneurs and industry leaders for inspiring discussions and interactive workshops. Past speakers include leaders from companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Microsoft, and Amazon. For 33 years running, this conference has been one of HBS's most significant annual events, attracting around 1,000 attendees each year.
- WESTREK & NYTREK: These spring treks connect HBS students with recruiting opportunities at startups and major tech companies in the Bay Area and New York City. Students gain valuable exposure to a wide range of full-time and internship roles.
- Industry Speaker Series: We strive to enhance our members’ technical knowledge by hosting insightful sessions featuring industry leaders from prominent companies. In 2024 alone, we welcomed speakers from OpenAI, Runway, Amazon, One Capital, Stack Overflow, Perplexity, and Hebbia.
- Internal Development and Workshops: Throughout the year, we organize sessions tailored to the needs of both students transitioning into tech and those with existing tech backgrounds. Examples include Tech Functions 101, Pivoting into Tech, PM Mock Interviews (in partnership with CPD), Startup Panels, and various community-led skill-building workshops.
- Community Building and Networking: We strengthen connections among tech enthusiasts at HBS through regular social events designed to encourage collaboration, community building, and professional networking.
The Tech Club would not be what it is today without our leadership team, advisors, volunteers, and the greater HBS community.
