Melinda Gates Comments on the Future of Social Enterprise

BOSTON — Melinda Gates visited Harvard Business School recently in conjunction with a two-day symposium organized by the HBS Social Enterprise Initiative. Part of an ongoing series of colloquia in honor
of the School's Centennial celebration, the Future of Social Enterprise colloquium examined a wide range of topics, including funding trends and strategies for designing, measuring, and sustaining high-performing
social enterprises.

Bringing the second day of the program to a close, Gates participated in an interview with Tom Tierney (MBA 1980), the former CEO of Bain & Company and cofounder and chairman of the Bridgespan Group, a management consulting firm for foundations and nonprofits. During the hour-long session in Spangler Auditorium, she eloquently explained the mission and work of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which is dedicated to bringing innovations in health and learning to the global community.
