The Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability, HBS’s Business and Environment Initiative and HLS's Environmental & Energy Law Program invite you to join us on April 23rd at the University Club of San Francisco for a panel discussion on how businesses, policymakers, and communities can better prepare for, respond to, and recover from climate-driven disasters. Hosted during San Francisco Climate Week, this event will bring together Harvard alumni experts from across schools and disciplines to discuss interdisciplinary approaches to enhancing resilience and adaptation in the face of extreme weather events such as the recent LA wildfires. Following the discussion, please join us for a networking reception where you can continue the conversation and build connections across industries and disciplines. This event is for Harvard alumni only, space is limited and therefore guests are not permitted.

Jim joined the HBS Faculty in 2019 and teaches the EC courses Entrepreneurial Finance and Tough Tech Ventures and is a faculty affiliate of BEI. He has been working in climate tech entrepreneurship and venture capital for a number of years, and he is an active investor, and Board director & advisor for several companies and VC/PE investment groups including The Engine and Breakthrough Energy Ventures.

Each year, the eight Ivy League schools come together to produce a unique and inspiring career fair that connects public agencies, consulting firms, nonprofit organizations, and businesses with undergraduate, graduate, and PhD level students who have the skills and knowledge to address the complex sustainability challenges of our global economy. The career fair will be taking place on February 28th at Columbia University. This year, the Salata Institute is thrilled to sponsor a Climate and Sustainability Alumni and Student Networking Session at the Harvard Club of New York City following the career fair. The networking session will provide a unique opportunity for Harvard students and alumni to connect, share ideas, and build meaningful professional relationships in climate and sustainability fields. Design for Decarbonization is a first-of-its-kind HBS x GSD lecture that demonstrates how design and business leaders can decarbonize the built environment (i.e., architecture and infrastructure). This lecture will be led by industry practitioner & nonprofit leader Lew Epstein. Epstein will reflect on his career, discuss the growing role that carbon dioxide removal (CDR) will play in our decarbonization toolkit, and share examples of innovations in the CDR space. Join the Salata Institute and Harvard Business School's Business and the Environment Initiative on February 5th, 2025, for the Careers in Climate Action Speaker Series, highlighting career opportunities in climate and sustainability consulting. The event will feature a panel discussion of alumni speakers including Seth Reynolds, MPA '01, EY Americas SaT Sustainability Leader and EY Parthenon Education Practice Leader, Oliver Badenhorst, MBA '20, Principal, Boston Consulting Group, and Naomi Davy, AB '22, Associate, Coho Climate Advisors who will reflect on their work and career path, providing students from across Harvard with valuable insights needed to launch a climate career. Each event will include a one-hour Q&A with the speaker followed by a dinner reception. All events will be recorded and posted on the Salata Institute website.

Please join us on January 23rd, 2025 in Miami for a session led by Professor Rosabeth Moss Kanter featuring leadership challenges, strategies, and tactics from some potentially high-impact ventures with “cool” solutions that can reinvent industries, scale quickly, and make stakeholders more comfortable and supportive. The HBS Agribusiness Seminar is an executive education program that has been held for more than six decades, drawing owners, investors, CEOs, and senior leaders from firms across the food system and around the world. About 175 executives attend the program, with approximately half from the U.S. and half from 25+ other countries. On Tuesday, January 14, from 6:30-7:45pm, Seminar participants will convene for a reception with appetizers. The Seminar organizers invite current MBA students interested in food-related careers—from agricultural production to agtech to consumer goods; from sustainability to food security to innovation—to join the reception and meet some of the most experienced executives in these fields.
