Sheryl Sandberg (MBA ’95) To Address HBS Students on Class Day 2012
BOSTON—Harvard Business School alumna Sheryl Sandberg, the chief operating officer of Facebook, will give Harvard Business School's (HBS) Class Day keynote address to graduating students on Wednesday, May 23, as part of a student-led ceremony traditionally held the day before Harvard University's Commencement exercises and the HBS diploma ceremony. Harvard Business School Holds 16th Annual Business Plan Contest
BOSTON—Teams of student entrepreneurs focused on stabilizing vaccines to allow safer and more reliable distribution worldwide, and streamlining the transition of patients from the hospital to post-acute care facilities, took first place at the Harvard Business School (HBS) Business Plan Contest held Tuesday (April 24) in Burden Auditorium. This year marked the 16th anniversary of the for-profit Business Venture Track and the 12th year of the Social Venture Track, which focuses on creating social value via nonprofit, for-profit, or hybrid-model plans. The capstone of the School's extensive Entrepreneurial Studies curriculum, the contest awards prizes totaling more than $150,000 in cash and in-kind services to the winners and runners-up in both tracks. Nobel Peace Prize Winner Muhammad Yunus Inspires Students at Harvard Business School
BOSTON— Last Thursday, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006, gave a talk titled "Social Business—New Models for Providing Sustainable Services to the Poor" before a large audience of students, faculty, and staff in Burden Auditorium at Harvard Business School (HBS). Yunus, an economist who once taught economics at a university in his native Bangladesh and who is widely known for his work in developing microlending and establishing the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh in 1983, discussed his recent efforts, which focus on building social businesses and healthcare initiatives in Bangladesh. The event was hosted by the HBS Social Enterprise Initiative, the HBS Healthcare Initiative, and the Harvard Innovation Lab. Read more.

Harvard Business School’s Baker Library Receives Papers of Professor Georges Doriot
BOSTON—Harvard Business School announced today that its Historical Collections, housed in the School's Baker Library I Bloomberg Center, have received on permanent loan from the French Cultural Center in Boston a wide array of papers that belonged to one of HBS's most renowned and remembered professors, Georges F. Doriot (1899-1987), a legendary member of the School's faculty from 1926 to 1966 and one of the founding fathers of the venture capital industry. Read more.

Harvard Business School Students Give Back Through Student Association Cares Volunteer Event
BOSTON—On Saturday, March 31, more than 600 Harvard Business School (HBS) students participated in the inaugural Student Association (SA) Cares volunteer weekend. Students pitched in with 12 different organizations around the Greater Boston community, including Cradles to Crayons, United Way's Youth Venture Program, the Women's Lunch Place, and many more. Organized by second-year MBA students Emmanuel Coque, Sebastien D'Incau, and Sarah Dowdall, SA Cares served to unite the HBS student body in giving back to the communities in which they live and study. Harvard Women Entrepreneurs Find Resource in Women's Founders Forums
BOSTON—What do the founders of a mobile electronic health records (EHR) application, a virtual platform for real-time voting, and an on-demand private jet coordinator for patients waiting for organ transplants all have in common? These founders, as well as about eighteen other women across Harvard University, are meeting every other week at the Harvard Innovation Lab as part of the Women's Founders Forums to help each other evaluate and potentially launch their businesses.
