Harvard Business School Students Give Back Through Student Association Cares Volunteer Event
BOSTON—On Saturday, March 31, more than 600 Harvard Business School (HBS) students participated in the inaugural Student Association (SA) Cares volunteer weekend. Students pitched in with 12 different organizations around the Greater Boston community, including Cradles to Crayons, United Way's Youth Venture Program, the Women's Lunch Place, and many more. Organized by second-year MBA students Emmanuel Coque, Sebastien D'Incau, and Sarah Dowdall, SA Cares served to unite the HBS student body in giving back to the communities in which they live and study. On Sunday, April 1, students participated in a 5-mile fundraiser road race that raised nearly $6,000 for the 12 Boston-area organizations. “HBS SA CARES was designed to show that a little time can make a big difference in the lives of people who need it most,” said Coque. “Since ‘caring’ is a value we believe each HBS student embodies, HBS SA CARES was a great way to remind ourselves that despite where our lives take us, it is always important to take the time to help your neighbors.” Dean Nitin Nohria joined the students at Cradles to Crayons, and applauded them for taking the time to give back, and for bringing such tremendous heart and energy to this day of service. |
