The LGBTQ+ community has historically been underrepresented in MBA programs and in business, but with each passing year, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals continue to increase their presence in business schools and in leadership positions in companies and other organizations.
PRIDE
PRIDE is an association of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) MBA students and partners. The club provides a close-knit community for its 70+ members, and works to build community, foster professional development, and encourage advocacy for LGBTQ+ representation at our school and in business.
For prospective students, admits, and pre-matriculants wishing to learn more about PRIDE and the larger queer community at HBS, Harvard, and/or Boston, please reach out to pride+studentclubs.hbs.edu and your message will be forwarded to the club’s Admissions Liaisons team of current MBA students.
MBA Voices
Check out the MBA Voices blog for HBS PRIDE member profiles, student and alumni reflections for National Coming Out Day and Pride Month, and the history of the LGBTQ+ student community at HBS.
Student-Run Conferences
Club conferences are a vibrant part of the HBS ecosystem. Over 25 conferences are held each year on topics ranging from finance to entrepreneurship to women in business – and all are open to prospective students. Learn more about student-run conferences.
The LGBTQ Conference at Harvard serves as an annual platform for bringing together diverse voices from within the LGBTQ+ community and our allies. Through a fabulous line up of speakers, panelists and much more, the conference highlights the intersectionalities within the LGBTQ+ community and provides a platform to LGBTQ+ voices which often go unheard.
Summer Venture in Management
HBS Summer Venture in Management (SVMP) is an educational program designed to increase opportunity in business education for high-potential college students making an impact in their school or community.
Reaching Out MBA Fellowship Opportunity
The goal of Reaching Out MBA, Inc. is to empower LGBTQ+ MBA students to become professionals who will lead the way to equality in business education, in the workplace, and throughout society. The Reaching Out MBA Fellowship provides fellows with unique opportunities to meet that goal following graduation from business school.
Any incoming first-year HBS student may apply to be an HBS Reaching Out MBA Fellow. While the HBS Reaching Out MBA Fellowship does not have a funding component, Reaching Out MBA Fellows do receive a number of benefits.
Organizations and Conference Affiliations
The HBS Admissions team attends a number of LGBTQ+ conferences and events each year including Reaching Out MBA and Out for Undergrad Business.
