The Latino Student Organization (LASO) was my home away from home. The annual LASO retreats stand out as some of my favorite HBS memories. Whether going on hikes, salsa dancing, or sharing a meal, our retreats were moments in which we came together to connect and build community. To this day, the friends fostered through LASO comprise my closest HBS friends. I wanted to go to a school that prepares generalists, invites dialogue in the class, and attracts truly diverse candidates. With my desire to live and work outside of the US, an internationally-recognized brand was a deciding factor too. HBS was the only one that fit the bill. A lot of schools prepare you for your first post-MBA job, but the HBS case method goes further. HBS classroom discussions simulate the kind of multifaceted challenges that senior executive leaders face which prepares you to be the leader you want to be in 20 years. [...]
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I’d get into Harvard, let alone HBS. I didn’t apply to Harvard for undergrad because I was too intimidated, and I almost did the same for HBS. I thought it’d be a waste of time, effort, and money because I’d get rejected anyway. But I am so glad I did apply! I’ve never been in such a diverse, stimulating, and inspiring environment.
