Round 1 Interview Invitations
Thank you to everyone who submitted in Round 1—we're enjoying getting to know you through your applications! Next Monday, September 30, at 12:00 PM noon Eastern Time, all Round 1 applicants will receive an update via the Application Status page on next steps in our process. There are three possibilities:
Invite to Interview – this is very good news! If you are in this group, you will receive additional information regarding the process on September 30. On October 1 you will be able to choose the date and time for your interview.
Further Consideration – this is also good news. We ask a small group of applicants to wait until Round 2, at which point we will review your application again. More information will be shared with you via email if you receive a Further Consideration update.
Early Release – unfortunately, this means we are not able to move you to the next step in our process. Our hope is that by letting you know this news early, you can move forward with other plans.

They're here! Last month, members of the Class of 2026 arrived on campus to begin the MBA Program, and we are thrilled to have them as part of the HBS community. We are confident that this new class will bring their many different life experiences and professional interests to enrich our campus. We can't wait to see what they do here at HBS and beyond!

HBS MBA is Now a STEM-Designated Degree
Hi everyone, I’m back in touch with some good news to share! The Harvard Business School MBA is now a STEM-designated degree. This designation will allow all our MBA students, beginning with the Class of 2025, to pursue the opportunities a STEM-eligible degree affords. The degree qualifies international students on an F-1 visa for a 24-month extension, allowing up to three years of eligibility to work in the US after graduating.
The STEM designation demonstrates our faculty’s ongoing commitment to develop courses and modules that bring the latest research and developments in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and quantitative methods into the MBA classroom. This commitment is exemplified by the recent introduction of Data Science and AI for Leaders in the first-year Required Curriculum.

Once you are ready to begin your application, remember to carefully review the instructions on our Application Process page and in the application itself. There are a few things to keep in mind:
- We have refreshed the criteria on which we evaluate candidates. We are looking for applicants who are business-minded, leadership-focused, and growth-oriented. Remember, you don’t have to have a traditional business background to apply to HBS.
- In this year’s application, we will ask you to respond to three short essays aligned with our criteria. This is your opportunity to discuss meaningful or formative experiences that are important to you that you haven’t had a chance to fully explore elsewhere in your application.
- We continue to offer a need-based application fee waiver. To be considered, you will need to submit a request form. These requests will be due two weeks prior to the application deadlines.
