Curriculum
A typical candidate will follow the sample schedule outlined below.
MBA/MPP Curriculum
Year 1 at Harvard Kennedy School
Fall and spring semesters completing the Harvard Kennedy School Master in Public Policy (MPP) Core Curriculum with the additional Joint Degree Seminar. It is recommended that joint degree students
choose a policy-related or international development-related summer internship after
Year 1.
Year 2 at Harvard Business School
Fall and spring semesters completing the HBS Required Curriculum with the additional Joint Degree Seminar. It is recommended that joint degree students
choose a business-related summer internship after Year 2.
Year 3 at Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School
Elective courses at both schools with the additional Creating Value in Business and
Government course. Year 3 students will complete the HKS Policy Analysis Exercise (PAE).
MBA/MPA-ID Curriculum
Year 1 at Harvard Kennedy School
Fall and spring semesters courses in the Harvard Kennedy School Master in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) Core Curriculum with the additional Joint Degree Seminar. Students choose an international development-related
summer internship after Year 1.
Year 2 at Harvard Business School
Fall and spring semesters completing the HBS Required Curriculum with the additional Joint Degree Seminar. It is recommended that joint degree students
choose a business-related summer internship after Year 2.
Year 3 at Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School
Completion of remaining MPA/ID Core Curriculum courses, Creating Value in Business
and Government course, and elective courses at both schools. Year 3 students will
complete the MPA/ID Second-Year Policy Analysis (SYPA).
