Are you interested in connecting with other alumni leveraging their careers to combat climate change? BEI invites HBS Alumni to join our Alumni in Climate Networking Series for a chance to connect with local alumni to discuss ideas, trends, opportunities, and challenges at the intersection of business and the environment. Email bei@hbs.edu to learn more about upcoming events.
On October 3rd, BEI partnered with Erika Diamond (MBA Class of 2007) to bring together alumni dedicated to making an impact on climate change with their careers. Around 45 alumni gathered on the roof deck of the EnergyHub offices in Brooklyn to network with each other and discuss their career goals. While there, I met alumni working on a wide range of issues such as investing in the circular economy, starting a company focused on sustainable alternatives to palm oil, and enabling utilities to run their energy efficiency programs through digital platforms. It was impressive the sheer breadth of industries that alumni in New York are working in to help solve the climate crisis.
One of the most inspiring parts of the evening was the number of alumni using this as an opportunity to gather more information about transitioning their careers to focus on climate. Whether they were alumni at the beginning of their post MBA careers looking to understand opportunities for advancement or alumni who had retired and were looking to leverage their next phase to make a greater impact on our environment, everyone walked away with connections to help bolster this next step for them. Our goal through this series is to build out a climate community in key locations and we look forward to visiting our next set of cities in 2024!
