Your Board of Directors – Critical to Your Company’s Success
HBS Campus, Hawes 201
When a company needs to go in a new direction, bringing on a new board of directors is often central to successful change. Even when only one or two new directors will be brought onto the board, their selection must line up with the where the company hopes to go over the next two to five years and be a good “fit” with the remaining board members. The new directors will help make core decisions defining the company’s future path. Board member recruitment and selection is an expression of the goals, risk preferences, and values of the owners and senior leadership of the company. Rick Williams, former HBSAB President, will interview Joe Campanelli, CEO of Needham Bank, and Joe Ayoub, President of Varuna Strategies, as they tell the story of how they defined Needham Banks’s new board of director’s mission and recruited new board members in anticipation of the bank’s IPO. Angela Jackson, Founder of Future Forward Strategies, was recruited to join the board. Angela will share her experience considering joining the board as an experienced independent director. Doing it right is the topic of this program.
