Harvard Business School Celebrates 105th Commencement
BOSTON—Harvard Business School (HBS) held its 105th Commencement exercises this afternoon with a diploma ceremony on its campus in Boston. Following an all-University celebration in Harvard’s Tercentenary Theatre this morning, nine hundred and eight students received their MBA degrees in front of the School’s iconic Baker Library | Bloomberg Center. In addition, nine students were awarded doctorates in business administration (DBA) and sixteen earned PhD degrees offered jointly and in collaboration with the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the fields of business economics, health policy, and organizational behavior. One earned a masters of management research, one earned a masters in organizational behavior, and two students were awarded their PhD last March. The top five percent of the MBA Class of 2015 (46 students) graduated with high distinction as Baker Scholars (named after the School's initial benefactor, George F. Baker). Eighty-six earned their diplomas with distinction. Seven MBA degrees were awarded last March. In his remarks to graduates, Dean Nitin Nohria spoke about the role of purpose, perseverance, and perspective in their careers and lives after HBS. “The faculty and I join your families in congratulating you on all you have accomplished during your time with us. We celebrate you, and we wish you good fortune as you begin your next adventures. We encourage you to continue to pursue work with a purpose, to draw on perseverance in the face of challenges, and to seek perspective when making and reflecting on the decisions that lie ahead. Be assured that the faculty will be rooting for you to become leaders who will make a difference in the world and in the lives of all you touch.” |
