Harvard Business School Faculty Dominate 2013 “Thinkers 50” List
BOSTON—The recently issued 2013 “Thinkers 50” ranking of influential management thinkers includes nine Harvard Business School faculty members in its pantheon of honorees. Professor Clayton Christensen, the originator of the theory of disruptive innovation and author of The Innovator’s Dilemma and many other books that have had a significant impact on businesses around the world, topped the semiannual list for the second time in a row. In addition, Professor Emeritus Robert (Bob) Kaplan, an originator of the Balanced Scorecard and activity-based costing, was named to the inaugural class of the Thinkers 50 Hall of Fame. Read more.

Six Doctoral Students Win Annual Research Awards
BOSTON—The Harvard Business School Doctoral Programs, directed by Kathleen McGinn, the School's Cahners-Rabb Professor of Business Administration, have presented three Wyss Awards for Excellence in Doctoral Research and three Martin Awards for Excellence in Business Economics to five Harvard doctoral candidates. These prizes are presented annually to outstanding students engaged in innovative dissertation research. Read more.

BOSTON—A new exhibit, The Art of American Advertising, 1865-1910, recently opened in the north lobby of Baker Library | Bloomberg Center on the Harvard Business School campus in Boston. HBS Professor Bill George Named Winner of Franklin Institute’s 2014 Bower Award for Business Leadership
BOSTON—Harvard Business School (HBS) professor of management practice Bill George (MBA 1966), an authority on leadership and the former chairman and CEO of the Medtronic Corporation, has received the 2014 Bower Award for Business Leadership from The Franklin Institute. Harvard Business School Faculty Members Honored
BOSTON—Professor of Management Practice Bob Eccles, a member of the Organizational Behavior Unit, has been awarded honorary membership in the London-based Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the global body for professional accountants. The award, to be formally presented in London on Nov. 22, recognizes Eccles’s contribution to “developing the thinking behind [corporate] integrated reporting and his extensive contribution to building trust in business.” He is one of only eight individuals who have received this designation since 1999. Harvard Business School African-American Alumni Association Profiles Black Women Graduates
BOSTON—The Harvard Business School African-American Alumni Association (HBSAAA) has launched a Web site (wwwhbsaaa.net) featuring weekly profiles of accomplished black female graduates who represent the broad mosaic of the HBS community. The site was launched to complement the School’s celebration in 2012-13 of 50 years of women in the full-time MBA program. Read more.
