Following an all-University celebration in Harvard’s Tercentenary Theatre this morning, nine hundred and thirty students received their MBA degrees in front of the School’s Baker Library | Bloomberg Center.

The top five percent of the MBA Class of 2017 (48 students) graduated with high distinction as Baker Scholars (named after the School's initial benefactor, George F. Baker). Seventy-nine earned their diplomas with distinction. One hundred and eighty-two earned second-year honors. One MBA degree was awarded in March 2017 and November 2016.

In addition, six students in the Doctoral Programs were awarded doctorates in business administration (DBA), and nine earned PhD degrees offered jointly with the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the fields of business economics, health policy, and organizational behavior. Last November, two students earned a PhD, one in business economics and another in health policy. One student also earned a PhD in Business Economics in March.

In his remarks, Dean Nohria spoke about the role of responsibility, reach, and respect. “The faculty and I join your families, friends, and well-wishers in congratulating you on all you have accomplished during your time with us. We celebrate you, and we wish you good luck as you begin your next adventures. We encourage you to be mindful of your responsibility as leaders at a time when businesses must work to rebuild public trust. We remind you to reach toward ambitious goals that will help solve society’s most pressing problems. And we ask that you respect the people who are most important in your lives and everyone with whom you interact along your road to leadership.”
