Harvard Business School Celebrates 104th Commencement
BOSTON—Harvard Business School (HBS) held its 104th Commencement exercises this afternoon with a diploma ceremony on its campus in Boston. Following an all-University celebration in Harvard’s Tercentenary Theatre this morning, nine hundred and one students received their MBA degrees in front of the School’s iconic Baker Library | Bloomberg Center. In addition, eight students were awarded doctorates in business administration (DBA), while seven earned PhD degrees offered jointly and in collaboration with the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the fields of business economics, health policy, and organizational behavior. The top five percent of the MBA Class of 2014 (48 students) graduated with high distinction as Baker Scholars (named after the School's initial benefactor, George F. Baker). Eighty-three earned their diplomas with distinction. Six MBA degrees were awarded last March. In his remarks to the graduates, Dean Nitin Nohria spoke about the importance of truth, trust, and thankfulness in creating value in the world. “The faculty and I join your families in congratulating you on all you have accomplished during your time with us. We celebrate you, and we wish you good fortune as you begin your next adventures. Remember, leadership is about competence and character, and as you think about continuing to build your character in the years ahead, I hope you will reflect on how the three Ts can help in this work. Seek the truth in all that you do; create and build relationships grounded in trust; and show thankfulness for the many blessings in your lives. Be assured that everyone here at HBS will be rooting for you to become leaders who will make a difference in the world and in the lives of those you touch.” |
