Ann Moore, former chairman and CEO of Time Inc., to Address HBS Students on Class Day 2013

BOSTON—Ann Moore (MBA 1978), former chairman and chief executive officer of Time Inc., will be Harvard Business School's 2013 Class Day keynote speaker.

The HBS Class Day ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 29th (the day before the Harvard University Commencement exercises), on Baker Lawn on the School's campus in Boston. It will include a welcome from the co-presidents of the MBA Class of 2013, faculty teaching awards, and a student speaker. The ceremony with conclude with Moore's remarks.

Moore served as chairman and CEO of Time Inc. from July 2002 to September 2010. She joined Time Inc. as a financial analyst immediately after graduating from Harvard Business School in 1978 and went on to become the highest -ranking woman in the Time Warner organization. In that role, she oversaw more than 145 magazines, their Web sites, and brand extensions, including Time, Fortune, Sports Illustrated, People, and Entertainment Weekly.

In 2006, Moore received Harvard Business School’s Alumni Achievement Award, the most important honor HBS can bestow upon a graduate. In April, she delivered a keynote address at the School’s “W50 Summit: Accelerating the Advancement of Women Leaders Who Make a Difference in the World,” a two-day celebration of the 50th anniversary of the admission of women to the School’s two-year MBA program.

The Class Day keynote speaker is selected each year by a student committee responsible for planning the event. Suggestions are provided by the entire graduating class by means of a poll sent to them earlier in the year by the committee's chairperson. The event is open to members of the graduating class, their guests, HBS alumni, and faculty and staff.
