BOSTON — Harvard Business School (HBS) announced today that it will offer its annual Agribusiness Seminar in Shanghai on May 11-14. The Executive Education program will focus on how customer needs, environmental concerns, economic issues, advanced technologies, and key strategies drive innovation throughout the agribusiness industry. Agribusiness Seminar: An Asian Offering will welcome participants from a range of organizations around the world, including agricultural producers and processors, branded food companies, major grocery chains, governments, and financial firms serving the agribusiness industry.

"The time is right for us to convene this seminar, given the evolution of China as both a leading provider and fast-growing consumer in the global food system," said Professor David Bell, faculty chair of the Harvard Business School program. "The issues facing the global food system that have come to the forefront in recent months-- rising commodity prices, food safety, and sustainable production, for example--are acutely important in China. Determining innovative ways to respond to these issues is vital to ensure that safe, affordable food is available to consumers worldwide."

Now in its 49th year, the Agribusiness Seminar was created to address the major challenges and opportunities faced by agribusiness and food-based organizations as they position their businesses for future success. The new program in China is designed to focus on today's increasingly changing world markets and will draw on global content, case studies with diverse and international perspectives, and classroom discussions on the key trends and innovations in agribusiness.

HBS faculty will work with participants to provide fresh insight on global business, with an emphasis on the key drivers of innovation in agribusiness and their impact on the global societies served by the industry. Participants will interact with speakers who will expose them to multiple perspectives, addressing and challenging their thinking on many levels.

The teaching team for Agribusiness Seminar - An Asian Offering is made up of HBS faculty who are leading authorities in their respective fields and renowned for their cutting-edge research. During the three-day seminar, participants will also have the opportunity for informal, in-depth networking with peers from a variety of backgrounds.

Admission to the program is based on professional achievement and organizational responsibility. For more information or to apply online please visit http://www.exed.hbs.edu/programs/agbo/.
