Brandon Rapp Named Harvard Business School’s 2019 Student Class Day Speaker

BOSTON—Brandon Rapp (MBA 2019) has been selected as the student speaker for Harvard Business School’s Class Day celebration, held this year on Wednesday, May 29. Rapp was chosen by his peers through an audition process that included more than 50 student speeches.

At HBS, Rapp co-directed the African American Student Union’s 46th Annual H. Naylor Fitzhugh conference and was selected as an HBS Social Enterprise Summer Fellow.

Rapp grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and graduated from Yale College with a degree in engineering sciences (chemical). While at Yale, Rapp spent his sophomore and junior year reestablishing an on-campus mentoring and tutoring program that connected his fellow students with the young people of New Haven.

Before coming to Harvard Business School, Rapp returned to New Orleans and his alma mater, Helen Cox High, where he taught 9th grade mathematics through Teach for America. He then worked in workforce development at Greater New Orleans, Inc., a regional economic development agency.

After HBS, Rapp will join Strategy&, a global consulting team that is part of PwC in Dallas, Texas, as a Senior Associate.

Class Day honors graduating HBS students on the day before the School’s and University’s official Commencement ceremonies, and is planned and conducted by a committee of second-year MBA students. The ceremony, which will take place on the Baker Lawn on the School’s campus in Boston, will also include a welcome from the co-presidents of the MBA Class of 2019, presentations of the Alumni Achievement Awards and the Faculty Teaching Awards, and a keynote address by Michael R. Bloomberg (MBA 1966). The proceedings are open to graduates, their guests, and the Harvard Business School community. More information is available on the Commencement website.
