BOSTON—Harvard Business School (HBS) held its 106th Commencement exercises this afternoon with a diploma ceremony on its campus in Boston.

Following an all-University celebration in Harvard’s Tercentenary Theatre this morning, nine hundred and twenty-two students received their MBA degrees in front of the School’s iconic Baker Library | Bloomberg Center.

The top five percent of the MBA Class of 2016 (45 students) graduated with high distinction as Baker Scholars (named after the School's initial benefactor, George F. Baker). Sixty-three earned their diplomas with distinction. One hundred and sixty-six earned second-year honors. Five MBA degrees were awarded in March.

In addition, twelve students in the Doctoral Programs were awarded doctorates in business administration (DBA), and ten earned PhD degrees offered jointly with the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the fields of business economics, health policy, and organizational behavior. Last November, three students earned a DBA, one received a PhD in business economics, and another was awarded a master of arts in health policy.

In his remarks to graduates, Dean Nitin Nohria spoke about the role of hope, humility, and honor in their careers and lives after HBS. “The faculty and I join your families in congratulating you on all you have accomplished during your time with us. We celebrate you, and we wish you good fortune as you begin your next adventures. We encourage you to continue to pursue work and life with a sense of hope, to conduct yourself with humility, while taking time to honor those who make your success possible. Doing so will also be the best way to honor yourself."
