“By drawing upon the collective wisdom and varied experiences within our section, I’ve learned to approach challenges with greater creativity, adaptability, and empathy”
Coming to HBS is like...
Sipping sweet tea on a summer day, y'all—it's refreshing, energizing, and reminiscent of home. Just as sweet tea embodies Southern hospitality, HBS offers a sense of belonging and community, ensuring you feel right at home from the beginning.
What is your most memorable classroom moment?
Undoubtedly, my most memorable classroom moment was when I took the leap and pitched my startup idea to my section mates during the second day of The Entrepreneurial Manager (TEM) this semester. It was a defining moment that encapsulated the essence of entrepreneurship—the courage to share a raw concept, the excitement of inviting feedback, and the anticipation of what lies ahead.
What is one thing you brought with you to campus, and one thing you'll be leaving with?
I brought my dog, Rosie, and will be leaving with so much gratitude for HBS—for the lifelong friendships forged here, the invaluable connections with professors that have expanded my horizons, and the transformative challenges that have instilled in me the belief that I'm capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.
How have diverse perspectives in your section contributed to your understanding of business concepts, leadership, and/or problem solving?
It's truly incredible how in almost every case, one of my section mates will have intimate knowledge and experience with the topic being discussed. By drawing upon the collective wisdom and varied experiences within our section, I've learned to approach challenges with greater creativity, adaptability, and empathy, ultimately enhancing my ability to navigate complex business environments with confidence and insight.
If you could give one piece of advice to prospective students, what would it be?
Whatever it takes to get into HBS is worth it. There were countless times during my extensive GRE journey when I questioned if pursuing business school was truly necessary. However, knowing what I know now, I realize the immense value of persevering through those doubts. My time at HBS has profoundly changed my perspective and opened doors I never imagined possible. It's a journey I wouldn't trade for anything, and I wish that everyone could have the opportunity to experience it for themselves.
